It's a journey that includes both terror and humor. We will read about great pain, great love, and even greater growth. We will meet — as young Yehuda did — kabbalists and sports figures, an African-American ba'al korei and a Jerusalem beggar whose battered old notebook mysteriously contains Yehuda's name. We will accompany the legendary Dr. Fred Epstein into the operating room as he invades Yehuda's brain in order to destroy the intruder threatening a young man's life. We will hear Miriam Lubling, the tiny Holocaust survivor who won the respect of many of the world's top doctors, telling Yehuda to "Remember, He is the true Doctor."
And indeed He is. Again and again, we will see the incredible hashgachah pratis that enabled a young man to defy all odds, survive, and prevail over what everyone said was a fatal condition. Though it deals with a diagnosis that is about as frightening as it can be, Brainstorm is not a frightening book. It is a book that shows us the incredible levels of kindness and faith, chesed and emunah, that a Jew can reach. It's a good read – and a great source of inspiration.
